Wow so many secrets that's crazy
E
Yeah, like the secret that you are secretly a raft
Apple
@small hammer it's a good game I'm playing it rk
I like how you comment on your videos either like a 10-year-old or with insightful commentary
Tyler the psychologist
alternate title: bending time and space in order to hug a sentient snowman that can only show that it is sentient by the way of extending its arms, and more!
4:10 Why cobble here 2: Electric boogaloo
hey if your into rpg games i recon a game you should play is skyrim it is my all time favorite game and i thing you would enjoy it
I really like to watch these videos without sound for some reason
aliensrock
18:00 did he just backseat gaming himself?
17:13 There's also another reason for this to happen! Even when you're not counsciously thinking about something, your subconscious is constantly trying to thank about and solve stuff. Especially when you're asleep! Albert Einstein mentioned that he often found solutions to equations and stuff in the morning, after waking up; his mind did the work for him while he was asleep. Ain't the brain beautiful?
One of my recommended videos on FIstartäs homepage was a 2 second video of a RL teacup chihuahua opening its mouth with a voice over of Wario going WAAAH. I said Not Interested, and one of the selectable reasons listed as to why I am not interested was that I am not interested in videos related to this one. ......Seriously FIstart, HOW THE HOLY FUCK IS THIS VIDEO RELATED TO THAT STUPID 2 SECOND MEME CRAP?!?!?!?!
While I'll admit I don't really like watching this game, it is still somehow infinitely meta.
I wonder if the programmers of this game added logging...
You were super overthinking a lot of the puzzles this episode.
That last island in this video there is a raftable position to the left where you could journey upwards.
5:55 Hold your breath as these fish bring death.
Um I was banned from your discord for a meme and it wasn’t bad or anything can I get unbanned
16:36 , Mindset talk
Yes, yes you could've
Tyler becomes hella big brain when he starts to talk about mindsets around 17:15
U dont get what the title... What did you find out which you could do?
God I love this game
I'm smarter thanks to you
why do these videos make me taste oatmeal
every time you kick a rock I say, why you kick rock?
the perspective thing is interesting. it's like you can't see the forest for the trees
Alien's lesson of the day : dissociating makes you smarter
10:30 I do believe letting your brain rest and process information is a good way to learn
Next is putting a log inside he Post Box to fast travel with the log.
17:18 I think aliensrock is becoming one of those scientists or something
I'm pretty sure there should be only 1 solution for each island that takes care of all options even for special access areas. When you went to hug the snowman near the beginning of the game, it looked like you could have rafted over from the left side instead of resetting the islands. Take a look! ;)
What game is this
15:00 Anyone else notice the Windows XP background?
Puzzle games are way easier when someone else is playing them.
day 71 of telling Tyler I want to give him a hug because of his daily uploads. HE REPLIED ON DAY 66 :)
@styxscorpion yeah, after Tyler replied, I haven't really been staying up till 12 that much to watch the vids.
Ur late this video
5:15 the classic dancing fish strategy!
Day 4 of thanking Tyler’s editor; thank you Ben!
5:53 HOLD MY BREATH AS I WISH FOR DEAAAATHHH OH PLEASE GOD WAKE MEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Does Tyler always stream at the same time?
the reverse mermaid is so incredibly cursed
if I had a dollar for every time he failed a level, I'll be 100k richer
i think one big reason people think they're better at puzzle games when watching compared to playing is that when the person who's playing gets stuck, they will often come up with the solution first. But they don't consider the many times when the person playing found a solution much quicker than they would have.
When you have finished this game, can you please react to the speedrun, like you did with the Witness
My theory for the playing versus watching problem is tunnel vision. Backseat Gaming is something that exists not only in puzzle games. Say, for example, that you play a shooter and enter a room with a pickup in one corner. You, the player, concentrate on killing all enemies in the room. The watcher however doesn't have this tunnel vision, as he is only watching another person doing something so he has to concentrate less on that and has time to look around more. Therefore it is more likely for the watcher to notice the pickup in the corner of the room (and write in the stream chat, that you missed something and how could you, it was so obvious that it was there)
Clickbaited again (not that I wouldn't watch this anyway)
Right I’m trying to find something, was there any new mechanic or did I get mega click baited
Can I walk on aliens rock?
Yessss it's back
If you really want to 100% unaided, some of the last puzzles require much greater vision than a single island. I suggest printing out screenshots of the expanded map to the scale of connected island chains, and then marking up the screenshots for places you can make rafts, the location of bigger trees, and where you can roll logs over bridges, by resetting each connected island in turn. You only have to do this basic legwork once that way, and the marked-up screenshots expand your vision for the more difficult puzzles. Later, you will have to do more work to find extra configurations of islands with perhaps just one log altered, and you can still exit over a bridge or raft and get to a teleport, and combine these for several connected islands to do some crazy secret stuff with unexpected rafting. Remember, rafts can be stopped by a log in the water, and pushed off at 90 degrees with another log -- and even more crazy options exist. It's going to be a lot easier to work out the more difficult puzzles with expanded vision, and you'll spend less time resetting islands you already know probably don't help you if you've done the legwork once.
What's the name of the game?
nice
i wonder if he's going to figure out that you can make a fully functioning teleporter with nothing but logs
*Woodhenge* Real name: cricket stumps. You have no idea what those are, do you Tyler?
"Debatable whether humans made those..." **conspiracy theorist intensifies** (We need to get a version of the "Aliens" meme with Tyler... 😁)
Where is thin aliensrock?
Hmm yes the tree here is... A LIE
Im hard for these puzzles
Another thing about watching footage: you're brain isn't busy solving the puzzle, so it's free to observe and explore other things while someone else solves the problem. This may lead you to a similar solution, but it could also lead you to explore alternative moves.
1:36 You’re saying you knocked up a tree......... nice.
You’ve probably seen them by now but I saw like 4 places you could have made a raft and launched yourself to more places unknown
Philosophical puzzling
Another reason it is "easier" when watching is because we can just be trying to think of things that you are not doing, or looking in places you aren't looking, and then when you solve something we haven't even looked at we still take credit for it("I woulda figured that out"). Basically we only have to search a subset of options because you're handling the rest, so if you're going the wrong path it actually makes it MORE likely we will find the solution, and yet to us it feels like we did something so hard even you couldn't do it.... thats my theory anyway
@SAM L I agree.
Daniel Hawley good theory
Something about this game is just so relaxing to watch
me: tyler: talks at 17:21 for like a minute me after he stopped talking: wow this guy is talking in 5d chess
Interesting
123 comments lol
17:15 that sounds like a long way of saying we're not as smart as we think we are and you're smarter than we think you are... And you'd be right
So much this; Tyler actually has a big brain, no joke.
yeah, when I watched his Baba Is You gameplay, I felt that he was so dumb, then I bought the game and played it myself, it was the opposite, and I rewatched his videos he figures things out faster than I do. Or maybe I’m just stupid.
Overexplaining the overexplinaition
Nice I love knowledge checkpoints
Guys guess what the title for the next 5 monsters expedition videos will be
Perspective yo say 17:30 perspective is reality
“Can I walk on this rock”? “I can walk on this rock”!
@Supamegacat It was posted over one day before now but my comment is only 21 hours old so wdym?
@Meeshroom how did you comment on this 4 hours before it was posted?
Punctuation belongs to the inside of the quotation marks.
I actually loved when he talked about different mindsets since that's something I constantly do with a short term memory problem so I don't have a premade idea based on a previous part since I can't remember that part and that's one reason I love games like this
There isn't unlocking moves, you can do anything right off the start. That's how you get the amazing speedruns that exist. There is just a point where you miss something for so long the devs sometimes force you to "learn new tricks"
I mean, the title of this video is literally just "I could've done this at the very start"
You literally described Outer Wilds. You can finish the game in the first loop or less than 24 minutes
That reminds me Stephen's Sausage Roll.
True
thats what you call 'good game design' and I love it
13:39 "I can walk on this rock, that's huge because that will let me walk on this rock now" -Tyler 2020
@Oliver Baker Yeah I know the context, have you ever seen videos like vsauce out of context? The idea is it sounds weird out of place
I mean it sounds dumb but he’s referring to 2 different rocks, maybe this is a woosh though idk
Want to see his reaction to watching a speedrun of this game.
I saw one of those. People solved this game way faster than I'd expect. There are so many resets to get logs is exactly the right place, I have no idea how they figured out the route. And then of course they execute it in ten seconds or something, it's crazy.
BREAKING: Local Monster Causes Mass Deforestation
Tyler you are a raft: a raft of bad puns and good ideas
My mind and set 🤯
One question, what happens if you have a log from another island on top of a stump, and then rewind the island with the stump
Yes.
It’s bop here
Yes, yes you could have
Wow, I didn't expect this game to get so complicated.
I could set a clock with you upload schedule.
Now that you've explained the pattern of standing logs, it all makes sense!
I don’t think Tyler got that very British cricket wicket joke lol.
I wonder what would happen if you took a log from another island, put it onto a stump from the current island, and then reset the level. Would the logs clip inside eachother?
The answer might be really lame so dun expect much depend on the game's coding. for example tree do not spawn Edit: opps somebody already said it
A log inside a log
@TheOnlyAlchimous OP is Mr. Stuff & Stuff. He was clarifying something that ShadowLight asked about.
The original log would fail to spawn, but the log from the other island would remain.
@TheOnlyAlchimous the comment said that maybe both logs returned to their original spots. It never mentioned a raft
Everyone else: 1st Me: 3348th.
14:00 if an island has thin clouds(left)... its currently accessible from an island you've been to so far. If an island has thick clouds(right)... its not
I'm not self diagnosed... I said this before but gave out more info than i was comfortable with.
potential dog eater corp it hurts my brain seeing people diagnosing themselves with anxiety or depression when they show no signs of having it. Not that shadowlight self diagnosed themselves (which I hope they didn’t)
@pixel strength ok, it's just annoying seeing self diagnosed people.
@pixel strength are you self diagnosed? If so you probably don't have it.
@potential dog eater corp it sure as heck annoys my OCD... (which I do have) So I get where both of you are coming from :)
MINDSEPTION
How do you compare this game to the witness?
Hey can discord mods stop posting in the announcement channel please
The logs standing up reminds me of bloxors from coolmath games.
Actually, I believe in the first (maybe second) video of aliensrock playing this game he mentioned bloxorz
I was playing bloxors the day he posted this. The spacing is different because the blocks are 2 by 1 in Bloxors and the logs are 1 by 1, but the concept is really close.
When he first started playing this I thought of that
wait now I want to watch aliensrock play bloxors lol
Good times
10:25 really looks like you could raft from that island
or can you? the top tree log can't go anywhere without the bottom tree log in unwanted places
woah only 61 comments? *Quick brain, think of something clever!*
@Potatic This man right here has got it all figured out!
quick brain
That's a pretty clever comment *Quick brain, think of a clever response*
4:50 "The more I think about it, the more I want to raft."
Dont mind me just thinking of a funny comment
Co
walking orby boi commits mass murder to nature
matte egg
This game is so hype
i do not understand this game but i enjoy watching it
Just leaving a comment before I go to bed, some of you should probably too after this video. Don't forget please.
I never sleep
Hmm I'm prob gonna fall asleep if I keep watching after this vid
No I refuse
