You Must Raft 16 Times to Solve This Puzzle
A Monster's Expedition Part 18 - some of the most convoluted puzzles I've ever seen. Some of these are extremely fun, some less so. Let's focus on the good, and not the bad sour the experience.

Some of my favorite levels show up this episode! Along with some of my least favorite levels, but let's not get too hung up on that lol.
K lol
@MightyCaesar37 his voice keeps me awake, why such late streams
Hans Christian Rosendal Overgaard I mentioned it on stream a while ago and he said he was considering it, but only after finishing his play through of the game
These endgame areas really are very impressive.
I'm so amazed how the difficulty spikes with puzzles inside of puzzles. do you think end game is as hard you wanted.
Wait are you telling me the creator of The Witness actually plays games? So he knows what a game is, he doesn't think they're torture devices? Impossible
That red arrow on the right of the thumbnail is illegal.
Don't hug the masked snowman.
you have a beautiful brain :)
Hearing Tyler complain about how hard the puzzles are makes me kinda sad idk why
They prefer snow-person
The interaction at 10:32 makes sense, a portion of the log is over open water, while the other portion is on the log, thus the log on top goes in the direction of which portion is over water, due to unbalanced weight with the lower log essentially rolling to allow it to move. A similar interactions happens when you push a log next to a tree and push the tree over the log; where the bottom rolls to allow the top to slide over a space. There's no rolling animation for a stationary log, but this is essentially what happens from a physics-based view. Another way to look at it is that the unsupported portion of the log tips the log into the water, and the log slides to be fully in the water. Another way to think about it is that the game wants to preserve a long log as one piece over splitting into a raft and a log, preservation of a length is priority over splitting; the game just does this in a way that physically makes sense, using unbalanced weight and unanimated rolling. Using the point of intersection to form a raft, like what would happen with a log length of 1, wouldn't work because you'd end up with another portion of the log splitting and dropping into the water, and breaking the game wherever this specific interaction is used; even if it doesn't make sense, it's clearly planned. What's happening might not be super intuitive at first, but makes the most sense, but what advanced mechanics of this game are intuitive?
Huh, at 14:00 I actually solved that differently... I used a two-long horizontal log that extends out past the furthest left point of the right island as a stopper for the left island's log, which I had knocked over downward and rolled to the right. The right island's stopper log stopped the left island's roll just in the right spot to push down for the win.
21:57 was also one of the hardest puzzles all game so far for me. That sucked.
Also, now that I ran out of islands I could do feasibly by myself, I'm really enjoying playing the game alongside you - when you get stuck, I've often found a way forward already, and vice versa. It's funny how different trains of thought can make certain islands that were previously seemingly impossible now trivial. Ex: the puzzle at 18:28 was actually one of my first ever meta puzzles - like #2 or something
7:45 I did this level without using the mail :D
Spoilers Aliensrock beat this game
Hey dude i don't know if you've already had this suggested to you, but if you like this game a lot then i would highly recommend a game called "stephen's sausage roll" it features kind of similar puzzles that leads me to believe that this game was actually heavilly inspired by stephen's sausage roll. but SSR also gets very crazy and meta in a similar fashion to this and baba is you towards the end, haha and the puzzles get similarly fiendish. seems like the exact kind of thing you would love. love the content dude! always have fun watching your vids :)
This game just gets progressively harder and its a long gamd
I DO NOT LIKE THE GRID.
5:00 I feel so smart I actually figured it out before Aliens rock
5:37 Jotaro be like
If he might have learnt to swim he may have saved many trees Now our earth is in danger
Does Johnathan Blow have a gaming channel
Gotta say this is the first series I've caught live (as live as it gets on YT) and I'm getting sad we are nearing the end. I long for the nostalgia of finding a game I really like and having it all be completely new to me. Aside from this series I got to experience with Tyler, I haven't felt that about a game since I was a child playing Super Mario Sunshine
21:46 would it have worked if you made a laft on the stump and then pushed it on the log?
I love hot your titles are so clickbaity but still pay off in the end because the puzzles really are that tough. Not even sure I can call it clickbait Amazing content, keep up the good work :)
It is clickbait, but it is honest clickbait :) if most clickbait youtubers made their thumbnails like that clickbait wouldn't have the negative charge like it has rn
Try and make a raft then go on it then reset that island that you made the raft from and then hope your guy drowns
The log shifting makes logical sensed in our world
tyler keeps streaming at 12 am where im at :(
Day 9 of thanking Tyler’s editor: THANK YOU BEN!!!

"Englandland's Snowmanman, the universal creator"
You should look at playing Factorio, it’s silmilar to shapzio but cooler!
You clickbaited!! One arrow on the thumbnail is wrong!!!!
Raftlandland was interesting
.nice
Snowmanman from Englandland says hi
He's absolutely right - it's an incredibly counterintuitive mechanic

It feels like the multi-island restart interactions are unpredictable and inconsistent. Sometimes restarting the source island of a raft has moved another raft in contact with it; but in this episode restarting a raft with a log on it keeps that log in place. What's going on game? What are the rules that determine this behaviour?
@Winterous I think the only reason they're hard to understand in this episode is because he's coming back to them afterwards and fragmenting the process. It would have been much clearer if he'd done it in one go but even then, as it is, it's still pretty clear how most of it works
@M' Might have been two, maybe three episodes ago, somewhere around the middle of the video.
Winterous is that in this episode? I remember that happening in the last episode with one raft. I think that was because it hit a rock in the ocean (like 1 tile out) that was technically part of the island even though it didn't look like it.
@14DiamondGamer Ok well it makes it feel really inconsistent and hard to understand.
@Winterous without that there would absolutely be an unintended way to raft away off of the map
How does it feel to be better than Jonathan Blow?
5:53 that's actually pretty deep if you take it out of context
You actually have seen the "double long log semi water tumble" technique before
@Andre IceCold םח
when?
I hate knowing the solutions to puzzle games when the youtuber doesnt So my solution is to skip the first 5 episodes of a puzzle game, so that im behind the learning curve and i never figure it out too early
I disagree with your disagreeance! It makes perfect sense, the single logs doing the same dont do that because all the mass is on the same spot, doubles though will never make an even cross on a grid. What you are saying is like a magical saw came out of nowhere
Just a werid mechanic
@Ahsoka Tano Fair enough point. However i think the developers made a game rule where only parallel logs can make a raft. And maybe another rule is that if a log stops then it is to stay where it is at unless its a 2 log. so that kinda makes sense but than again idk and i dont think anyone cares lol
That happens when a rock is in the way
To be fair, a magical saw *does* come out of nowhere when you overlap double logs in only one square, where you end up with single-raft-single. However, I also think the mechanic as it is in the game makes more sense
Bring back wide Tyler
This is by far one of my favorite game let's plays of all time. I can't wait to come back in a year or two from now to take a nostalgia trip!
16 rafts.... 16 TIMES THE DE-TAIL 4 TIMES THE MAP SIZE!
@Rey Ernest Ambayec I just love this quote
I was hoping to find a comment like this
Have we seen what happens when a standing double length log falls onto a standing log? in either of the two positions?
I think he has shown what happens a while ago. It just knocks the standing log over in the same direction as you pushed the double length log.
aliensrock
That thumbnail doesn't work. You can't stop *next* to a rock! You can't push off of water either!!
505 likes and 2 dislikes... Nice
I loved to watch some of this on stream! It was very late and I had to go in the middle, and it's good to see the solution to what I couldn't stay to see!
21:45 it hurts me the way in which Tyler let that awe-inspiring plinthed raft thumbnail go by
Log on stacked rafts when?
I changed my sleep schedule for this I'm in Canada it's 1:07am
How odd that I'd see this comment when it hit 1:07 am where I live
Doo da doo doo dee
118th woo hooo
Are you going to be replaying baba once this game is finished?
Yes.
An Aliensrock's expedition Into the breaking of his mind
Wild the puzzle around 9:00 I solved completely differently. I ended up using 3 islands and getting a short log raft.
Looks like quite the difficult game
I’ll be sad when log game is done :(
Take a shot of water every thyme Tyler says the word 'this.'
@c0baltl1ghtn1ng Thyme?
@Sean the Tiger Only half. Hydrate before you die-drate~
Is that pun intended? :p
I totally panicked when Tyler said this game might be getting too unfun to keep playing. I love this series almost as much as I loved Baba.
youtube algorithm comment before not watching because spoiler :(
Ah yes Midnight rafting Always fun
When Aliensrock pulls out the grid™ you know things just got serious.
@PuffballPlayz serious grid painting...?
@yourallygod serious painting
@sichka _ or both
Or paint
i would like to know why the first clip has visable box's
Anyone still remember Poptropica
Love the content per usual. Preciate you Tyler!
This game seems to have become about looking for edge cases, like this dude started taking glitches he found and making them into puzzles.
Don't know if they're glitches, but I take your point.
i think these interactions all make logical sense considering all other interactions
What glitch are you talking about?
Yes many indie games that are related to puzzle is usually taking advantage of unexpected mechanics
10:32 you definitely saw the land version of that mechanic before. I think I remember you seeing the water version as well, but I'm not as sure about that.
Thought I did too, which is why I was so surprised that he hated the mechanic. Physically, it makes much more sense than somehow making a raft with 2 perpendicular logs on different heights as he suggested
Look at an object and imagine what it would feel like to lick it your tongue will know how it will feel whether you've licked that object before or not how's that to ruin your night
Good comment.
I dare you to try to make a valid reply to this word Lol
Yes, I understand the joke but I'll try to make a valid reply. The word "Lol" looks like a person waving his arms around but we can't see his body. The reason is that the person is trying to escape the seamless lines of the internet. You can't see the rest of his body because either the white or black background is blocking the view. See, the person has cut a random line in the internet and stumbled upon this comment section, trying to ask for help after being stuck in the internet for who knows how long. In seconds, the cut will heal itself making the person stuck forever on the comment unless the user deletes the comment making him/her free from his/her predicament. So currently there are two people stuck on this comment thread.
I also engage in this laughter
I have failed
For the puzzle at 3:35-8:25, there is a simpler solution here: fistart.info/tv/videot/vqu1z2uBobObz7M.html.
would The Witness have been better with hidden snowmen to hug?
Every game would be 10 times better with hidden snowman to hug doom guy hacking and slashing and suddenly finding a showman and his first thought is to hug it
day 79 of telling Tyler I want to give him a hug because of his daily uploads. HE REPLIED ON DAY 66 :)
I've have gone to comments to seek this one out since day like 50 something
Hug
1:16 log here. Go up, left, up, tumble 2 tall into it from right to left? make a raft?
These red arrows are very helpful.

Can you play super mario galaxy on dolphin emulator
imagine a second game where it is much shorter, but every time you complete it, you "wake up" from a "dream" (well, a dream within a dream, within a dream), but you have an extra ability you learned from the past time you played, unlocking many paths, until you have the abilities to make it to the true ending
You should really look into minit then
from what you've described, that just kinda sounds like a more linear version of this
“Birthday clown snowman man” -Tyler 2020
Yes

Yes, I must
?
Bridge game is for mornings. Tumble thing is for before bed.
That group of three islands looks like Englandland
@Sean the Tiger Should have gone to Specsavers™

Missed opportunity to say "Englandland". Edit: I need glasses
